拍攝政治新聞照片
拍攝政治新聞照片很需要警惕的是，政治人物站出來的位置，現場環境的佈置以及攝影師可以站立的位置，都是經過政治人物設計，為求在可能的環境下局限攝影記者拍出來的是政治人物希望見到的影像，又或最少機會不是政治人物不希望見到的。
有時留意歐美媒體對政治影像的處理可以明顯見到，拍攝記者會時，很多時會把背景板以外的環境和人也拍進去，記者在現場發問/拍攝，又或是在外圍的警衛和幕僚也可以把環境還原得更立體。也有使用長鏡頭，只聚焦在政治人物本身的表情上，把政治人物精心設計的背景去除，通通就是攝影記者要「破局」的小把戲。
第一眼看到Donald Trump受槍擊的照片，當然是美聯社Evan Vucci和其他在同一位置拍攝的照片，他們都很出色，我也相信他們的照片會放進歷史成為經典。
但同時我也開始有點警惕，站在台下仰視Donald Trump的角度，背景的美國國旗和在特勤局人員掩護離開下仍然堅持向群眾舉起手喊話的Donald Trump，絕對理解這和之前所說政治人物面對攝影記者的「設計」是不同的，這次是突發事件，很多地方是不能預料。但攝影記者們應該都會預視到，當這三個視覺元素同時出現，就很有可能產生「英雄化」被攝者的照片，攝影記者服務的媒體立場，和攝影記者對被攝者的認知和評價，我先不討論誰人可「英雄化」，誰又不能。
但我認為攝影記者有這警惕是需要的。
美國兩大報頭版先揭曉，都把三大元素的其中之一美國國旗裁走或是沒有使用包含國旗的照片，期待晚一點看到歐洲報紙如何處理？

殖民官三箴言

在香港藝術發展局任職期間，認識上司林志釗，聽聞他講述的殖民官三箴言，我奉之為為官處事的規條。林的洋名是Albert Lam，粵語諧音，成了他的渾號——牛白腩。他曾是民政署長、市政總署署長及香港駐倫敦辦事處專員，二千年前夕，在取消市政局的時候，他為特區政府撰寫過研究報告，並出席公眾論壇，一度惹來罵名。
他在二〇〇一年出任藝術發展局的行政總裁，是我的上司。不時講述他做官的技巧，例如如何打點末代總督彭定康出巡的街坊關係。他說第一圈的街坊都是民政署篩選過的，不會令總督尷尬。曾任市政總署署長的林志釗、陳達文都是我在藝術發展局的上司，我去了民政局之後，同事謝祥安是民政局長的新聞主任，謝以前也是彭定康總督的新聞主任，可謂經驗老到。
殖民官三箴言。第一，是If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Ain’t 是isn’t的俗話。這官箴容易理解，就是運行得好地地的東西，不用修理它，不要沒事找事做。做官是看管事情而不是做事情，是奉旨懶惰，薪水就是買怕了你，請你不要亂說亂動。
不必派兵救援，本官自有分數
第二，是Don’t turn the stones of the garden。不要亂翻花園的石頭，好奇心不是這樣用的。石頭下面有蚯蚓和蟲，翻起了石頭就要處置他們。他們被石頭壓死，不關你的事，你翻起石頭而他們見光而死，就關你的事。實質而言，是指不要干擾低下層的生活，也不要打擾富豪的謀財之道，由得他們，得過且過。
第三條極為深奧，也是保命之用。是殖民官在山番地區有時會遇到叛亂、起義之類，往倫敦發電報或打電話，就要這樣講：The natives are revoting. But things are under control. 土著在叛變，但情勢在控制之中。意思是說，土著叛變常有，不必派員來視察，也不必派救兵來，我自有分數。
派兵鎮壓、派專員視察之後，當然會挑出殖民官的毛病來的，即使不挑出毛病，也是治理失職。故此只需要匯報，不必增援。那麼真的火燒衙門怎辦呢？走人囉。殖民統治是不義的，被土人趕走不是什麼怪異的事情。殖民政府走了還是會回來的，因為土人不知如何治理殖民地的制度。
套在香港的情況，二〇一四年的佔領中環，梁振英是輕描淡寫，自行處理。二〇一九年的泛民叛變，二〇二〇年的假瘟疫，林鄭月娥是大張旗鼓，北上求援。結果兩人都無法連任，但對香港的傷害，後者為大。二十三年之後，香港變成新深圳，由林鄭氏始。

充氣展覽，雙方不歡而散

日前我評論過中環的吹氣展覽，豈料事情急轉直下。
《Yahoo新聞》專訪了亞美尼亞的藝術家 Joann，她「不喜歡」展品的效果，認為展品「醜怪」、比例欠佳，打燈令效果更醜。她又向《Yahoo新聞》表示，不喜歡自己的名字出現在這醜陋的展覽上，指這概念屬於她的，要求主辦方停辦展覽。
《中環夏誌》由私人機構 Culture Venue Management（CVM） 主辦及出資的非牟利活動，並非政府項目及受政府資助，但該機構之前有領取政府盛事基金的資助來做展覽。CVM知悉藝術家的意見之後，認為展品傳了給她，已得到她同意，故此如舊展出。
主辦者在得知市民厭惡金字塔變成綠色之後，已改為紫色，證明他們知道不妙，到了原創藝術家出言反對，卻不商議改善或取消，反而堅持展出。雖然合約已經買了概念的版權，但效果和評論不好，便需要改善，這是尊重藝術家意願，二來是尊重公共空間，不能明知被認為醜陋也一意孤行。
雖然是私人出資，在公共空間放置藝術是要顧及美感和評論的，這是香港很多商家不屑去理解的地方，以為是私人出資就可以我行我素。而主辦者的美學知識，更是不敢恭維，例如說展品放什麼顏色都有人批評，而白色代表優雅純潔。
有美學常理的都知道，白色顯出優雅純潔，要看放在什麼場合和素材，放在婚紗或會議桌是可以的，但放在豎起的石碑狀的吹氣柱體，就似西洋墓碑。本來，原創藝術家有意見，合理的公關做法是商議之後，請她來港看看，與民眾見面交談，之後就地改動展覽，這樣就不必自己挨罵，也許只是支出十萬元以內的經費就可以辦妥，可惜，香港的商界就喜歡用最醜陋的方式處理這藝術爭議。

特區政府鬥三煞？

之前有KAW死人漂浮公仔、東九龍中心白花陣、現在中環海濱又有死人金字塔和白色墓碑展示。圖中的綠色金字塔，白天是白色的，晚上打光上去變綠色，為什麼不打金光或黃光呢？這顯然令人想起衙門暫時掩蓋跳樓死亡的遺體的綠色膠布金字塔，說是藝術是難以服人的，因為一堆好似以前深圳世界之窗的世界奇觀景點大聚集，只是奇觀風格（spectacular）而已，不會討論出什麼美學意義。
我私下認為，這是政府由某些人指點而行的假死術——好似有錢佬玩葬生基（俗稱種生基），代替香港死亡幾次，或在象徵世界（巫術世界）加速香港的死亡，但現實香港仍未死，只是局部復元之中。

這是死裏求生的巫術。唐代道教將之改造為除罪方術，例如女皇帝武則天曾經在河南嵩山投下除罪金簡，希望道教的地官可以赦免她的罪惡。在求偏財的賭場、舞廳、妓院等，有時也刻意揀選風水惡劣的三煞地來開業，或者在風水好的地方，刻意用門口方位等方式破格，就是「欲要發，鬥三煞」的方術。
防疫惡政三年，弄出空前衰退，政府自知罪孽深重，玩這些假死的方術是情有可原的。然而，假若政府真的在玩方術，就只能嘆息一句：不問蒼生問鬼神。

被市民評為一堆「墓碑」的，是「SummerFest@Central 中環夏誌」五件巨型充氣裝置之一，聞說叫「英國巨石陣」。此外還有充氣「意大利比薩斜塔」、充氣「法國凱旋門」，但要數最震撼人心的，一定是那個在晚上發綠光的「埃及金字塔」，分明把跳樓現場常見的綠色三角帳篷放大了100倍。
到底是哪位天才設計出這些觸目驚心的充氣裝置呢？「中環夏誌」主辦方稱，設計靈感是受國際知名AI藝術家@joooo.ann的作品所啟發。@joooo.ann原名叫Joann，是亞美尼亞一位設計師和插畫師，擅長透過AI技術創作別開生面的作品，其中一個著名系列就叫「充氣奇蹟（Inflatable Wonders)」 。

憧憬特朗普上台最美妙的中美場景——《香港被逼做金融中心的策略系統分析》系列的補遺
拍攝完三集《香港被逼做金融中心的策略系統分析》，發現有些未盡之言，用短文講一下吧。
中共最美好的下場，是特朗普上台之後，減息和量化寬鬆（QE）美元，也與中共同時約定QE人民幣，但條件是中共要開放金融及服務市場，並逐步取消外資進入中國大陸的壁壘，願意美方派駐監察員在大陸監管涉及開放的範疇。美方為此答應減低中國貨物進入美國的關稅，雙方重開市場。
美國也答應俄烏戰爭停火之後，中國可以在烏克蘭承包重建工程，那麼中共嚴重產能過剩的建材和工程業可以在烏克蘭大展鴻圖，中亞鐵路也可以重新忙碌運輸起來。
如此，中共下跌的房地產、股票和上市的國企可以得到量化寬鬆之後的美元注資購買，美國減息之後，資金也有出路，湧向中國大陸，令衰退中的中國得到拯救，但後果是企業很多落入或部分落入美資手上，那麼中國就好似韓國經歷金融風暴之後，韓國大企業被美資收購。如果中國大陸的企業很多有美資成分或過半數股份屬於美資，技術禁運就無必要，可以取消。中國大陸可以重新做台灣那種台積電或英達偉的代工。
政治上的代價，一如南韓，是民主化。之後華夏文化隨著民主化而爆發創意，發揚光大。
中美合作挽救全球性經濟衰退，有往績可循的。在美國爆發雷曼債券的時候，2008年，美國學了日本的教訓，政府出資擔保了大銀行和保險公司，並要求中共元首胡錦濤與美國一齊量化寬鬆4萬億人民幣，結果中美一齊經濟膨脹，挽救了美國的經濟衰退，也令香港空前繁榮。這是中美合作的良好往績，後遺症是中國的量化寬鬆控制差劣，大部分走人房地產圈地和建屋，引發現在習近平的窘境。
假如特朗普沿用拜登的策略
另一個場景是最壞的。就是特朗普沿用拜登的策略，繼續技術封鎖和去風險化中共，與東亞盟友推高台海戰爭風險，逼中共軍備競賽，美國用列強來對付中共的一強（many to one的策略）。解決俄烏戰爭之後，因為中共曾經援助俄國而不准中共參與重建，待中共單方面QE、發債而爆發金融風暴，用最低賤的價錢收購中共。我認為這大概就是拜登及其金主財團的對華策略。
不論前後，香港都會重中得利，以前者的策略得利最多，後者則是慘勝。最終，當然是中國大陸繁榮起來，香港只能保住金融中心，其餘經濟活動被大陸取代。

What was the word? Delve.
ChatGPT even joked about this on Twitter, saying “Don’t mind me just doing some delving today.”
This made me wonder what other words and phrases are overused by ChatGPT. Below is a list of words and phrases that ChatGPT overuses, based on my interactions with ChatGPT.
Does this mean you can’t use these words or phrases? Of course not!
Does this mean any text with the word “delve” was AI-generated? Nope! I know people who love to use these words in their writing. And that’s fine!
But it’s good to be aware of these words because they tend to be mechanical and vague. If you are using too many of them, your text may sound like it was AI-generated.

Words that aren’t frequently used in human-written text: “keen,” “dynamic,” “inquiry”, “deriving”
Vague, meaningless phrases: “exciting work being done at your institution,” “passion for deriving insights from data”, “dynamic team like yours”
No specifics about the current job or projects, and only a vague reference to a “background in data analysis.”
The University of Virginia is a big place, but this text doesn’t specify a particular unit on campus.
Example 4: Ask ChatGPT to write an email about data analysis findings.
I asked ChatGPT to draft an email to stakeholders about the results of a data project.
What are some signs that this text is generated by ChatGPT?
Meaningless adverbs that are over-used by ChatGPT: “additionally,” “consistently,” “effectively”, “strategically”
Uses the word “delve”
Unnatural greeting and sign-off: the email starts with “Dear Stakeholders” and ends with “Best regards.” If written by a human, the names of the people would be listed at the beginning.
Long, vague sentences such as “highlights the importance of concise and focused messaging,” “present valuable opportunities for optimizing…”, “I look forward to collaborating with you to leverage these learnings effectively in our future marketing endeavors”, “delve deeper into the implications of this analysis”
Example 5: Ask ChatGPT to write your resume summary.
I asked ChatGPT to write a resume summary for me, including a few details about my current job and technical expertise.
What are some signs that this text was generated by ChatGPT?
Vague, meaningless words and phrases: “results-driven,” “solid foundation,” “actionable insights,” “innovative solutions,” “strong collaborator,” “drive efficiency,” “complex challenges,” “track record”
No specific examples of certifications or data projects.
Strange phrasing: “University of Virginia ecosystem,” “leveraging 4 years experience”
Final Thoughts
Why does ChatGPT text sound bad? It’s as though you asked a million people to respond to your prompt, and ChatGPT gives you the “average” of all their responses. Its output will be generic and vague. ChatGPT won’t give you the best word for each scenario, it will just give you the most commonly used one.
There’s no foolproof way to detect AI-written text, even if you use tools available today (like GPTZero.) AI software could always create text with the specific intent of evading these kinds of detectors. Also, AI tools are always improving, so there is an arms race between ChatGPT text detectors and detector-evaders.
As ChatGPT evolves, it can’t hurt to avoid the words and phrases listed in this article. To make your text sound more human, use specific, meaningful words, and specific examples. For example, you can ask ChatGPT to generate draft text, then interact with ChatGPT to edit the text and make it sound more authentic.
